Holland Honors 2013 Champions at End of Season Banquet
CHEEKTOWAGA, NY… The Holland NASCAR Motorsports Complex officially closed the books on their 54th season of racing with the celebration of champions at the Millennium Hotel. The 2013 Champions were honored as well as their crews and sponsors for having a great 2013 racing season. Comedian Dan Pordum had the crowd entertained in-between award presentations.
The 2013 Holland track titles were decided in all divisions back on Labor Day weekend and it was George Skora III from Eden, NY earned his first Getzoni Agency NASCAR Pro Modified Track Championship. Skora will be representing Holland at the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Banquet held in Charlotte, NC in December. Eldon King III from Freedom, NY won his fourth McClurg Auto Group Late Models crown in the last five seasons. Alden, NY pilot Thomas Northem was crowned champion for the first time in his career for the Bank of Holland Chargers. Lancaster, NY competitor Shawn Nye won his first Holland track title for the New York/Pennsylvania Midget Association TQ Midgets (NYPAMA) while Ben Russo, also from Lancaster won his first 4 Cylinder NASCAR Hornets championship crown. Jason Eck from Buffalo, NY won his first M&M U Pull-It Figure 8 championship.
The Rookie of the Year Award is in memory of Clark Rice, a man who was vital in the beginning to make Holland what it is today. The Clark Rice Memorial Rookie of the Year was given to Josh Hill in the Figure 8’s, Michele Maltby in the Hornets and Jeff Brown in the Pro Modifieds. The Bank of Holland presented the Most Popular Driver Award. This award was voted on by the fans each week in their souvenir racing programs. The recipients of this award were Josh Hill, Jeff Szafraniec, Kyle Hutchinson, Rich Carnes, JD Roberts and Amy Catalano.
The Unsung Hero Award went to the track Chaplin at Holland Father Norb Orsolits. Father Norb has been apart of Holland since 1960 and have been a staple at the speedway ever since. Special awards were also presented to the speedway officials that made Thursday night/Saturday afternoon practices running smooth and to the media for keeping everyone informed of what was going on at Holland each and every race night.
In the Getzoni Nationwide Insurance NASCAR Pro Modifieds, Dave Catalano was awarded the Best Appearing Car from Martin Brothers Chevrolet. George Skora III’s pit crew received the Best Appearing Crew Award from Coca-Cola while Neal Dietz Jr received the Wardynski and Sons Hard Luck Award. Kirk Totten won the Most Improved Driver Award presented by the VSP Marketing Graphics Group. The premier division on the highbanks of Holland had five different winners picking up victories. 2013 titlist George Skora III won twice but it was his top five efforts all season that lifted him to the track title. Barker, NY pilot Kirk Totten won his second consecutive George Decker Memorial 100 held in August. Totten had a total of four wins on the year. The McClurg Auto Group NASCAR Late Models division was completely dominated by three time consecutive champion Eldon King III. King won seven times in 2013 including the last five features in a row on his way to the title. Brandon Glover won on three occasions and fell short of the title by a mere three points. Good Ol DW Dave Whittaker’s racer was the best appearing throughout the season while Brandon Glover's team received the best appearing pit crew award. Josh Hathaway received the hard luck award and JD Roberts was named Most Improved for the division.
The competitive Bank of Holland Chargers saw five different winners see winners circle. 2013 champion Thomas Northem had one victory but used very consistent finishes and heat victories to earn the track title. Dave Wilson Jr and Rich Carnes each earned three victories on the season while Eric Brown won twice. Kris Hamann also picked up a victory this past season. The 50 lap special for the division was a “Saturday Night Shootout Style” event and both Rich Carnes and Thomas Northem earned victories. Rich Carnes won best appearing car while Ken Maltby and his crew received the best appearing pit crew award. Jerry Kosmowski received the hard luck award and it was Eric Brown being named most improved for the Charger division.
The Hornet division was dominated by two teams, DagoFast Racing and Dice Racing. DagoFast Racing had three victories, all won by Chris Powers while Dice Racing had seven victories, including five by champion Ben Russo. 2012 track titlist Jeff Szafraniec added two victories on the season. Chris Powers was awarded the Best Appearing Car while Michele Maltby’s crew was awarded the best appearing pit crew award. Bill Lutz received the Hard Luck Award and Josh Hill was the most improved driver in the division.
The M&M U Pull it Auto Parts Figure 8 division saw Jason Eck won his first track championship. Eck used two victories and consistent finishes in route to the title. The division had seven different winners cross the finish line first. Eck’s pit crew was awarded the Best Appearing Pit Crew Award.
The traveling and newly founded Big 10 Super Stock Series made two visits to the highbanks in 2013 and it was Southern Tier ace Lee Sharpsteen winning the inaugural visit back on June 22. Jason Dieter, a longtime Holland campaigner won the tours second stop of the season on August 10. In what was one of the most exciting races of the season, the Race of Champions Modified Tour returned for the Holland 100 on July 4th weekend and at the end of the 100 lap event, second generation driver Matt Hirschman continued his hot streak on the RoC Tour to claim the 100 lap event over Andy Jankowiak and Patrick Emerling.

Bud 100
THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELED DUE TO THE RAIN.
With support from our friends at Paul Graff Trucking and NOCO Express Shops, the Holland NASCAR Motorsports Complex is getting ready for the Budweiser 100 for the Getzoni Agency NASCAR Pro Modifieds on Saturday evening, September 7th at the historic Southern Erie County racing oval. Fans are encouraged to stop by their local NOCO Express Shops and pick up their discounted tickets for the longest running race on the Holland schedule, the annual Bud 100. Also in competition on Saturday night will be the Bank of Holland Chargers, Hornets and the NYPAMA TQ Midgets.
The Bud 100 has been a Labor Day tradition on the highbanks ever since the track’s inception back in 1960. This event started in 1964 and up until 2010 was a Late Model race. Rick Wylie won the event seven times while Ron Williams and Art Clark each won six times throughout their legendary careers. Dick Flaig won it four times as Vern Bliss and Will Thomas won the 100 three times each. Bob Senneker won the event two times. DeVere and Mark Bliss, Shawn Dunning, Sam Fullone, Junior Hanley, Steve Hill, Todd Hoddick, Roger Kelly, Eldon King Jr, Danny Knoll, Billy Rafter, Howie Scannell, Pete Tingue and Bruce Van Dyke all have one win in this event. In 2010, the Pro Mods took center stage for the Bud 100 and it was “Super” Sege Fidanza picking up the victory. Fidanza was a “hired gun” for Kirk Rutherford.
Pit Gates will open at 3:30pm and grandstand gates will swing open at 4:45pm. Qualifying will begin at 6:00 pm and NASCAR feature racing will begin immediately following qualifying heats. Adult admission is just $16 while students (ages 8-15) are just $8. Children seven and under are ALWAYS FREE. Family Passes are also available for just $40 which includes two adults and all children 15 and under living in the same household. Totten, King, Brown, Russo, Wollaber, Lyon, Hejna and Zacharias All Win on Season Championship Night; Skora, King, Russo, Nye and Eck Crowned 2013 Champions
HOLLAND, NY….Kirk Totten from Barker, NY took the top honors in the 50 lap points finale for the Getzoni Agency Pro Modifieds. With his fifth place finish, George Skora III claimed the Holland track title. ”The Empire Excavator” Eldon King III from Freedom, NY claimed his seventh McClurg Auto Group Late Model feature of the season and clinched another track championship by three points. Jim “Timex” Morgan and TJ Zacharias were on the front row for the Getzoni Nationwide Insurance Agency NASCAR Pro Modifieds to the green flag for their 50 lap season championship showdown and it was Jeff Brown going three wide and taking the race lead with Jimmy Zacharias, Kirk Totten, Jake Vernon and Morgan in the top five at the end of the opening go around. Tony Carbone hit the turn four wall and blew a left front tire, bringing out the races first caution with two laps completed. On the restart it was Brown and Jimmy Zacharias leading the field and it was Brown edging his way out front. With Brown showing the way, Kirk Totten moved into second on lap seven as point’s leader George Skora raced his way into the top five. At the races halfway point, Kirk Totten inherited the race lead over Brown, Vernon, Dave Catalano and Jimmy Zacharias. With ten laps remaining, Skora and Zacharias went side by side and Skora moved back into the top five with eight laps remaining. Kirk Totten ran away from the rest of the field to pick up the win.
JD Roberts and Brandon Glover led the field of McClurg Auto Group Late Models to the green flag and it was Roberts scooting out into the race lead. Roberts would continue to show the way while Eldon King III worked his way through the field and by lap five was up to second. Roberts would continue to lead the field but King took over the race lead by lap seven. Once out front, King had to hold off Roberts and Brandon Glover to claim the victory and the track championship.
Eric Brown and Ken Maltby paced the field of Bank of Holland Chargers to the green flag and it was Brown jumping out into the race lead. Dave Wilson, Rich Carnes and Tom Northem went three wide for third place on lap three with Wilson grabbing the third spot. Wilson would then quickly go to work on Ken Maltby for second and would move into the runner up spot. Brown and Wilson pulled away from the rest of the field early on as Jim Loffredo was racing his way through the field in the battle for fifth place on lap 15. At the halfway point, Eric Brown continued to show the way over Dave Wilson Jr. Ken Maltby was leading Tom Northem and Jim Loffredo about a half track behind the lead duo. Jerry Kosmowski lost his left front tire on lap 33, sending out the first caution flag of the event. On the restart, Brown would keep his advantage over Wilson with Tom Northem and Rich Carnes racing in the top four. Brown would lead every circuit to claim his second win of the season.
“The Butcher” Donald Palmer and George Anthony were on the front row for the NASCAR 4 Cylinder Hornets in their Championship feature event and it was Anthony showing the way. Bill Lutz, Ben Russo and Louis Carbone made contact on the front stretch and Lutz rolled down the front stretch. Russo and Carbone were able to continue but Lutz was done for the evening. Kenny Hejna used the lap one restart to take over the race lead. Ben Russo raced his way back through the field and five laps later, passed defending divisional champion and points leader entering the evening Jeff Szafraniec. A four car battle for second between DagoFast teammates Tony Carbone and Chris Powers and the Dice Racing teammates of Szafraniec and Russo had the fans on their feet for several circuits and on lap 15, Russo moved into second. With Hejna still out front, Russo began to reel in the leader as they hit heavy lap traffic before lap 20. Halfway through the 50 lap affair and Hejna still showed the way over Russo, Powers, Szafraniec and Josh Hill. With 23 laps remaining, Russo took over the lead. Michele Maltby slowed the field down for the second time after blowing a right front tire and hit the back stretch wall. On the restart, Russo took the lead but the battle was on for second between Hejna, Szafraniec and Powers and Jeff Szafraniec went three wide to move into the runner up spot. Russo and Szafraniec pulled away from the field. Donald Palmer caused the third caution of the night after his right front tire came right off his Buffalo Bisons number 32 racer. On the restart, Russo and Szafraniec went side by side and Russo grabbed the lead. Jack Warrior brought out the caution as he lost his right front wheel. The two lap shootout saw Russo take command of the field and Russo edged out his teammate to claim his fifth win of the season and unofficially claimed his first track championship.
Rob Pocobello and Jake Lyon led the Street Stocks to the green flag for their 25 lap feature event and it was Lyon jumping out into the lead. Heather Weber aboard her 22 ride raced her way into second but second generation driver Matt Druar went underneath Weber and moved into second by lap five. With Lyon out front, Druar was inching his way to the rear bumper on the TDH Refrigeration ride of Lyon. Dave Vona raced his way into third at the races halfway point just as Druar reeled in Jake Lyon. Druar would try everything in his power and went underneath Lyon off turn four but Lyon used a lap car in the pick and roll with seven laps remaining. Druar and Lyon went four wide with a pair of lap cars to move into the race lead with three laps to go. Lyon and Druar raced hard and came off turn four and Lyon edged out Druar to pick up the win. “That was the most intense race I have ever been apart off” stated Lyon in victory lane.
Andy Patton and Nelson Rung led the NYPAMA TQ Midgets to the green flag and it was Rung showing the way early on. On the charge in a hurry was Camden Barber and multi-time race winner Dave Wollaber. Barber was up to fifth by lap two and Wollaber was racing in sixth. Barber would then take the lead on lap eight and right behind him was Wollaber. The yellow lights would come out for Andy Nye who came to a stop on the front stretch. The lap ten restart saw Barber and Wollaber lead the field back to the green with Shawn Nye, Kyle Hutchinson and Nick Groff racing in the top five. Wollaber would take over the lead on lap 11. Just two laps later, Shawn Nye got into Barber and turned the Barber’s Automotive ride in turn four to bring out the caution. On the restart, Wollaber would have the advantage over Hutchinson. Nye and Barber would drive back through the field. Wollaber would hold off Hutchinson for the win.
The M&M U Pull-It Figure 8’s were led to the green by Bob Palmer and Waylon Price for their Championship feature and it was Palmer leading the field onto the Figure 8 course for the first time. Palmer would continue to show the way but it was Jeff Szafraniec making it three wide and moved into second place. After a mid race restart, Kenny Hejna took over the lead and Hejna would grab his first win of the season. Jason Eck clinched the Figure 8 track title
The Cup Lites were led to the green flag for their feature event by Steve Matthewson and Dave Whittaker and it was “Good Ol’ DW” Whittaker showing the way on the initial lap. The first caution came out for Kyle Hutchinson who hit the turn two wall. As the caution came out, Whittaker lost his chain and pulled into the pits. The restart on lap two saw Matthewson and Jimmy Zacharias on the front row and it was Zacharias grabbing the lead. Once out front, Zacharias pulled away from Neal Dietz Jr to grab his first Cup Lite win on the highbanks.
News and Notes: Third generation driver Jimmy Zacharias from the Southern-Tier picked up his first win in the Cup Lites in his second career start in the ¾ scale racecars. Western New York Heroes made a presentation to Rob Pocobello for all his efforts for the non-profit organization.
Racing returns to the highbanks on Saturday September 7th as Paul Graff Trucking and NOCO Express Shops presents the Budweiser 100 for the Getzoni Agency NASCAR Pro Modifieds. Fans are encouraged to stop by their local NOCO Express Shops to pick up discounted tickets. The Bank of Holland Chargers, 4 Cylinder Hornets, NYPAMA TQ Midgets and the Street Stocks will all be in competition. Racing will begin at 6:00pm sharp for this tradition that dates back all the way to the speedway’s beginning.

Totten, King, Brown, Russo, Wollaber, Lyon, Hejna and Zacharias All Win on Season Championship Night; Skora, King, Russo, Nye and Eck Crowned 2013 Champions
HOLLAND, NY….Kirk Totten from Barker, NY took the top honors in the 50 lap points finale for the Getzoni Agency Pro Modifieds. With his fifth place finish, George Skora III claimed the Holland track title. ”The Empire Excavator” Eldon King III from Freedom, NY claimed his seventh McClurg Auto Group Late Model feature of the season and clinched another track championship by three points. Eric Brown from Holland, NY led every lap to pick up his second Bank of Holland Chargers feature of the season. Ben Russo from Lancaster, NY claimed his fifth win of the season for the 4 Cylinder Hornets and unofficially picked up his first career track Championship. Dave Wollaber from North Tonawanda, NY picked up his sixth NYPAMA TQ Midgets feature of the 2013 campaign. Jake Lyon from Elma, NY edged out Matt Druar to pick up the victory for the Street Stocks. “Hot hands” Kenny Hejna from South Buffalo, NY picked up his first M&M U Pull It Figure 8 car feature of the season while Jason Eck was unofficially crowned divisional champion. Third generation driver Jimmy Zacharias from Candor, NY claimed the Cup Lites feature event.
The following drivers were crowned 2013 Champions: George Skora III (Pro Modifieds), Eldon King III (Late Models) Ben Russo (4 Cylinder Hornets), Shawn Nye (TQ Midgets), Jason Eck (Figure 8’s).
Jim “Timex” Morgan and TJ Zacharias were on the front row for the Getzoni Nationwide Insurance Agency NASCAR Pro Modifieds to the green flag for their 50 lap season championship showdown and it was Jeff Brown going three wide and taking the race lead with Jimmy Zacharias, Kirk Totten, Jake Vernon and Morgan in the top five at the end of the opening go around. Tony Carbone hit the turn four wall and blew a left front tire, bringing out the races first caution with two laps completed. On the restart it was Brown and Jimmy Zacharias leading the field and it was Brown edging his way out front. With Brown showing the way, Kirk Totten moved into second on lap seven as point’s leader George Skora raced his way into the top five. At the races halfway point, Kirk Totten inherited the race lead over Brown, Vernon, Dave Catalano and Jimmy Zacharias. With ten laps remaining, Skora and Zacharias went side by side and Skora moved back into the top five with eight laps remaining. Kirk Totten ran away from the rest of the field to pick up the win.
JD Roberts and Brandon Glover led the field of McClurg Auto Group Late Models to the green flag and it was Roberts scooting out into the race lead. Roberts would continue to show the way while Eldon King III worked his way through the field and by lap five was up to second. Roberts would continue to lead the field but King took over the race lead by lap seven. Once out front, King had to hold off Roberts and Brandon Glover to claim the victory and the track championship.
Eric Brown and Ken Maltby paced the field of Bank of Holland Chargers to the green flag and it was Brown jumping out into the race lead. Dave Wilson, Rich Carnes and Tom Northem went three wide for third place on lap three with Wilson grabbing the third spot. Wilson would then quickly go to work on Ken Maltby for second and would move into the runner up spot. Brown and Wilson pulled away from the rest of the field early on as Jim Loffredo was racing his way through the field in the battle for fifth place on lap 15. At the halfway point, Eric Brown continued to show the way over Dave Wilson Jr. Ken Maltby was leading Tom Northem and Jim Loffredo about a half track behind the lead duo. Jerry Kosmowski lost his left front tire on lap 33, sending out the first caution flag of the event. On the restart, Brown would keep his advantage over Wilson with Tom Northem and Rich Carnes racing in the top four. Brown would lead every circuit to claim his second win of the season.
“The Butcher” Donald Palmer and George Anthony were on the front row for the NASCAR 4 Cylinder Hornets in their Championship feature event and it was Anthony showing the way. Bill Lutz, Ben Russo and Louis Carbone made contact on the front stretch and Lutz rolled down the front stretch. Russo and Carbone were able to continue but Lutz was done for the evening. Kenny Hejna used the lap one restart to take over the race lead. Ben Russo raced his way back through the field and five laps later, passed defending divisional champion and points leader entering the evening Jeff Szafraniec. A four car battle for second between DagoFast teammates Tony Carbone and Chris Powers and the Dice Racing teammates of Szafraniec and Russo had the fans on their feet for several circuits and on lap 15, Russo moved into second. With Hejna still out front, Russo began to reel in the leader as they hit heavy lap traffic before lap 20. Halfway through the 50 lap affair and Hejna still showed the way over Russo, Powers, Szafraniec and Josh Hill. With 23 laps remaining, Russo took over the lead. Michele Maltby slowed the field down for the second time after blowing a right front tire and hit the back stretch wall. On the restart, Russo took the lead but the battle was on for second between Hejna, Szafraniec and Powers and Jeff Szafraniec went three wide to move into the runner up spot. Russo and Szafraniec pulled away from the field. Donald Palmer caused the third caution of the night after his right front tire came right off his Buffalo Bisons number 32 racer. On the restart, Russo and Szafraniec went side by side and Russo grabbed the lead. Jack Warrior brought out the caution as he lost his right front wheel. The two lap shootout saw Russo take command of the field and Russo edged out his teammate to claim his fifth win of the season and unofficially claimed his first track championship.
Rob Pocobello and Jake Lyon led the Street Stocks to the green flag for their 25 lap feature event and it was Lyon jumping out into the lead. Heather Weber aboard her 22 ride raced her way into second but second generation driver Matt Druar went underneath Weber and moved into second by lap five. With Lyon out front, Druar was inching his way to the rear bumper on the TDH Refrigeration ride of Lyon. Dave Vona raced his way into third at the races halfway point just as Druar reeled in Jake Lyon. Druar would try everything in his power and went underneath Lyon off turn four but Lyon used a lap car in the pick and roll with seven laps remaining. Druar and Lyon went four wide with a pair of lap cars to move into the race lead with three laps to go. Lyon and Druar raced hard and came off turn four and Lyon edged out Druar to pick up the win. “That was the most intense race I have ever been apart off” stated Lyon in victory lane.
Andy Patton and Nelson Rung led the NYPAMA TQ Midgets to the green flag and it was Rung showing the way early on. On the charge in a hurry was Camden Barber and multi-time race winner Dave Wollaber. Barber was up to fifth by lap two and Wollaber was racing in sixth. Barber would then take the lead on lap eight and right behind him was Wollaber. The yellow lights would come out for Andy Nye who came to a stop on the front stretch. The lap ten restart saw Barber and Wollaber lead the field back to the green with Shawn Nye, Kyle Hutchinson and Nick Groff racing in the top five. Wollaber would take over the lead on lap 11. Just two laps later, Shawn Nye got into Barber and turned the Barber’s Automotive ride in turn four to bring out the caution. On the restart, Wollaber would have the advantage over Hutchinson. Nye and Barber would drive back through the field. Wollaber would hold off Hutchinson for the win.
The M&M U Pull-It Figure 8’s were led to the green by Bob Palmer and Waylon Price for their Championship feature and it was Palmer leading the field onto the Figure 8 course for the first time. Palmer would continue to show the way but it was Jeff Szafraniec making it three wide and moved into second place. After a mid race restart, Kenny Hejna took over the lead and Hejna would grab his first win of the season. Jason Eck clinched the Figure 8 track title
The Cup Lites were led to the green flag for their feature event by Steve Matthewson and Dave Whittaker and it was “Good Ol’ DW” Whittaker showing the way on the initial lap. The first caution came out for Kyle Hutchinson who hit the turn two wall. As the caution came out, Whittaker lost his chain and pulled into the pits. The restart on lap two saw Matthewson and Jimmy Zacharias on the front row and it was Zacharias grabbing the lead. Once out front, Zacharias pulled away from Neal Dietz Jr to grab his first Cup Lite win on the highbanks.
News and Notes: Third generation driver Jimmy Zacharias from the Southern-Tier picked up his first win in the Cup Lites in his second career start in the ¾ scale racecars. Western New York Heroes made a presentation to Rob Pocobello for all his efforts for the non-profit organization.

Season Championship Night Saturday, August 31st 5 p.m. start time
The 2013 point season is coming down to an end this coming Saturday night as Martin Brothers Chevrolet presents the Budweiser Season Championships featuring a night of 50’s. The Getzoni Agency Pro Modifieds, McClurg Auto Group Late Models, Bank of Holland Chargers and Hornets will all be racing in 50 lap specials. The M&M U Pull It Figure 8’s, NYPAMA TQ Midgets and the Street Stocks will all be in action. Also on the card will be a scheduled appearance by the Cup Lite Series.
Coming into Season Championships, Eden, NY pilot George Skora III has a 52 point advantage over Dave Catalano. Tommy Catalano, Amy Catalano and Jeff Brown are your top five in Pro Modified points. In the Late Models, Cuba, NY racer Brandon Glover has a six point margin over Eldon King III. In the Hornets, Dice Racing teammates Ben Russo and Jeff Szafraniec are tied for first in the standings with 309 markers. Multi-time feature winner Chris Powers is third in points just 28 points behind the lead duo.
Pit Gates will open at 2:30 pm and grandstand gates will swing open at 4:45pm. Qualifying will begin at 5:00 pm and NASCAR feature racing will begin immediately following qualifying heats. Adult admission is just $16 while students (ages 8-15) are just $8. Children seven and under are ALWAYS FREE. Family Passes are also available for just $40 which includes two adults and all children 15 and under living in the same household. Last Saturday night, George Skora III continued his winning ways after taking another checkered flag in the Pro Modifieds on Pizza Hut, Duplicating Consultants, 97 Rock, UPS and American Red Cross Night at the races on a gorgeous Saturday evening in the Holland hills. Other winners included Eldon King III in the McClurg Auto Group Late Models, Dave Wollaber in the NYPAMA TQ Midgets. Chris Powers took home his second straight Hornets victory and the “Dice Man” Bill Lutz won the M&M U Pull It- Figure 8 car victory. Terry Weldy was victorious in the first visit of the season for the Street Stocks. The Bank of Holland Chargers finish was under official review.

Dave Catalano and Kirk Totten Split Pro Mod Mains; Jason Dieter wins Super Stock Tour Race
HOLLAND, NY…. Ontario, NY driver Dave Catalano and Barker, NY pilot Kirk Totten split the twin 30’s for the Getzoni Nationwide Insurance Agency NASCAR Pro Modifieds on Kayak Pools, Buffalo and Erie County Public Library night at the Holland NASCAR Motorsports Complex on a sensational Saturday evening in the Holland hills. Eldon King from Freedom, NY swept the McClurg Auto Group Late Models while Jason Dieter from Hamburg, NY pulled away to pick up the visiting Super Stock Series victory. Dave Wilson Jr from Hamburg won his third Bank of Holland Chargers triumph of the season. Dave Wollaber from North Tonawanda, NY claimed his fourth NYPAMA TQ Midgets feature of the season. Chris Powers from Orchard Park, NY picked up his second Hornet victory of the season. Mike Myers was victorious in the M&M U Pull-It Figure 8’s. John Grandits was awarded with the Enduro victory.
In the first Getzoni Nationwide Insurance Agency NASCAR Pro Modifieds main, it was Amy and Tommy Catalano leading the way. Jeff Brown, George Skora and Jimmy Zacharias came together in turn three. Brown’s night ended early. On the lap one restart, Amy Catalano took the lead away from her son Tommy and her husband Dave raced his way into third place. The drivers trying to spoil the Catalano one-two-three finish was Kirk Totten and George Skora III. Both young drivers tried everything they had to get around Tommy Catalano but Tommy, fresh off his first career win the night before at Spencer, was able to maintain his third position on the speedway as he watched his parents fight for the win. Dave Catalano was able to hold off his wife Amy and son Tommy to pick up his first win of the season.
The 30 lap Getzoni Agency Pro Modified feature saw Jimmy Zacharias and Kyle Inman lead the field to the green flag and it was Jimmy Z showing the way early on. Kirk Totten was able to take over the race lead on lap number seven after getting underneath the Zacharias racer. Dave Catalano, winner of the made up feature earlier in the evening, raced his way past Jimmy Z and moved into the runner up spot. Catalano tried everything he could in the late going but Totten continued to show the way. The battle was on for fourth place between Zacharias and George Skora III in the late going after Amy Catalano past Zacharias for third place just past the races halfway point. Totten pulled away from both Dave and Amy Catalano to claim his fourth win of the season. Jimmy Zacharias would finish in fourth and George Skora III would complete the top five.
In the first McClurg Auto Group Late Model feature, Mike Ticco and Eldon King III led the field to the green flag and it was King jumping into the race lead. With King showing the way, Brandon Glover and Mike Ticco battled for second throughout the event. Glover would get around Ticco for the runner up spot and would drive all over the speedway to find the right line and attempt to pass King. But Eldon King was too strong on this night as King fought off all of Glover’s challenges to pick up his fourth win of the season.
JD Roberts and Mike Ticco led the Late Models to the green for their regular 20 lap feature event and it was Ticco showing the way. Eldon took the lead on lap four and quickly showed the field why he was the defending divisional champion. The race was on for second place between Brandon Glover and Mike Ticco for much of the event. The two slightly made contact a couple of times but both drivers were able to race hard and Ticco would get the advantage of the young Glover to maintain second place throughout the event. Eldon King drove away to his second win of the night and fifth of the season.
“The Big Show” Ted Welshans and Lee Sharpsteen led the 18 car field of Super Stocks to the green flag and Sharpsteen got loose and hit the wall. Tim Welshans was also involved and both were able to continue. With one lap in, Jason Dieter and Joe Fetzer led the field back to the green flag and it was Dieter showing the way. Divisional point’s leader Mike Ramos got passed by Tommy Markham for third place on lap three and the “lavender machine” Wayne Bernhard racing in the top five. Ramos was able to pass Fetzer to move into second place and began his chase of the race leader Dieter. As Dieter hit lap traffic, Ramos and Bernhard battled for the runner up spot. Bernhard moved into second place and began his chase of Dieter, who had a full straightaway lead over the rest of the field. Jason Dieter pulled away to pick up his first career Super Stock Series win. Wayne Bernhard finished in second and was followed to the line by Tommy Markham, Sam Fullone and Joe Mancuso completed the top five.
Dave Wilson Jr jumped into the lead after passing Ken Maltby early in the 30 lap feature event for the Bank of Holland Chargers. Maltby was joined in the front row by Tom Northem and Northem and Maltby battled for second for most of the 30 lap feature event. With Wilson running away with the lead, a five car battle between Maltby, Northem, Eric Brown, Zach Myers and Rich Carnes shaped up for second place with Northem getting the advantage with a handful of laps remaining. Wilson drove away to pick up his third win of the season.
Cody Mollnow and Jim Fleischman led the NYPAMA TQ Midgets to the green flag for their 20 lap feature event and it was Fleischman showing the way on the opening circuit with Chad Heywood in second place. Off an early race restart, Jonathan Reid moved into the lead on lap three with
Dave Wollaber and Andy Nye charged into second and third place. Wollaber then used the crossover move and passed Reid for the lead on lap five. Andy Nye spun in turn two to bring out the races third caution with six laps completed. On the restart, Dave Wollaber showed the way with Shawn Nye moving into third place and then Nye went underneath Reid to move into the runner up spot and quickly went to work on race leader Dave Wollaber. Nye would go underneath Wollaber and took over the race lead on lap 10. Nye and Wollaber would race side by side for several laps, fighting for the race lead and Wollaber regained the lead with seven laps remaining. Jonathan Reid brought out the caution suffering a broken driveshaft. On the restart, Wollaber would lead and hold off Shawn Nye to pick up the victory. Camden Barber would finish in third and was followed closely to the line by Kyle Hutchinson and Jim Fleischman.
Robert and Butcher Palmer led the Hornets to green and it was fourth place starter Josh Hill taking the lead on the opening circuit. Chris Powers was able to sneak around Hill on lap four to take over the race lead. Once infront, Powers pulled away from the field. Ben Russo, Louis Carbone and Jeff Szafraniec put on a three car battle for the runner up spot for most of the event. Powers was able to pick up the victory over Ben Russo. Cousin Louis Carbone came home in third and was followed to the line by Jeff Szafraniec and Josh Hill.
Mike Myers was awarded the win in the M&M U Pull-It Figure 8’s after Jason Eck and Jason Adams came together on the last lap. Adams and Eck would battle for the lead for much of the event and Eck was able to take the lead on lap four. Coming into the final two turns, Eck and Adams made contact and Adams appeared to cross the line first but officials penalized Adams, therefore giving the win to Mike Myers.
News and Notes: Tyler Turnbull did a simple rollover after getting loose during his NYPAMA TQ Midgets qualifying event. Tyler climbed out of his racer under his own power. With their one-two-three finish in the make-up feature from July 27th, Dave, Amy and Tommy Catalano became the first family in Holland history to have a husband, wife and son finish one-two-three respectively.
Racing returns to the highbanks on Saturday August 24th as Pizza Hut presents a full NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Program featuring the Getzoni Nationwide Insurance Agency NASCAR Pro Modifieds, the McClurg Auto Group Late Models, the Bank of Holland Chargers, M&M U Pull-It Figure 8’s, the 4 Cylinder Hornets and the NYPAMA TQ Midgets. Pit Gates will open at 3:30 while grandstand gates open at 4:45 and qualifying will begin at 5:00pm. NASCAR feature racing will begin promptly at 7:05pm.

Dave Catalano and Kirk Totten Split Pro Mod Mains; Jason Dieter wins Super Stock Tour Race
HOLLAND, NY…. Ontario, NY driver Dave Catalano and Barker, NY pilot Kirk Totten split the twin 30’s for the Getzoni Nationwide Insurance Agency NASCAR Pro Modifieds on Kayak Pools, Buffalo and Erie County Public Library night at the Holland NASCAR Motorsports Complex on a sensational Saturday evening in the Holland hills. Eldon King from Freedom, NY swept the McClurg Auto Group Late Models while Jason Dieter from Hamburg, NY pulled away to pick up the visiting Super Stock Series victory. Dave Wilson Jr from Hamburg won his third Bank of Holland Chargers triumph of the season. Dave Wollaber from North Tonawanda, NY claimed his fourth NYPAMA TQ Midgets feature of the season. Chris Powers from Orchard Park, NY picked up his second Hornet victory of the season. Mike Myers was victorious in the M&M U Pull-It Figure 8’s. John Grandits was awarded with the Enduro victory.
In the first Getzoni Nationwide Insurance Agency NASCAR Pro Modifieds main, it was Amy and Tommy Catalano leading the way. Jeff Brown, George Skora and Jimmy Zacharias came together in turn three. Brown’s night ended early. On the lap one restart, Amy Catalano took the lead away from her son Tommy and her husband Dave raced his way into third place. The drivers trying to spoil the Catalano one-two-three finish was Kirk Totten and George Skora III. Both young drivers tried everything they had to get around Tommy Catalano but Tommy, fresh off his first career win the night before at Spencer, was able to maintain his third position on the speedway as he watched his parents fight for the win. Dave Catalano was able to hold off his wife Amy and son Tommy to pick up his first win of the season.
The 30 lap Getzoni Agency Pro Modified feature saw Jimmy Zacharias and Kyle Inman lead the field to the green flag and it was Jimmy Z showing the way early on. Kirk Totten was able to take over the race lead on lap number seven after getting underneath the Zacharias racer. Dave Catalano, winner of the made up feature earlier in the evening, raced his way past Jimmy Z and moved into the runner up spot. Catalano tried everything he could in the late going but Totten continued to show the way. The battle was on for fourth place between Zacharias and George Skora III in the late going after Amy Catalano past Zacharias for third place just past the races halfway point. Totten pulled away from both Dave and Amy Catalano to claim his fourth win of the season. Jimmy Zacharias would finish in fourth and George Skora III would complete the top five.
In the first McClurg Auto Group Late Model feature, Mike Ticco and Eldon King III led the field to the green flag and it was King jumping into the race lead. With King showing the way, Brandon Glover and Mike Ticco battled for second throughout the event. Glover would get around Ticco for the runner up spot and would drive all over the speedway to find the right line and attempt to pass King. But Eldon King was too strong on this night as King fought off all of Glover’s challenges to pick up his fourth win of the season.
JD Roberts and Mike Ticco led the Late Models to the green for their regular 20 lap feature event and it was Ticco showing the way. Eldon took the lead on lap four and quickly showed the field why he was the defending divisional champion. The race was on for second place between Brandon Glover and Mike Ticco for much of the event. The two slightly made contact a couple of times but both drivers were able to race hard and Ticco would get the advantage of the young Glover to maintain second place throughout the event. Eldon King drove away to his second win of the night and fifth of the season.
“The Big Show” Ted Welshans and Lee Sharpsteen led the 18 car field of Super Stocks to the green flag and Sharpsteen got loose and hit the wall. Tim Welshans was also involved and both were able to continue. With one lap in, Jason Dieter and Joe Fetzer led the field back to the green flag and it was Dieter showing the way. Divisional point’s leader Mike Ramos got passed by Tommy Markham for third place on lap three and the “lavender machine” Wayne Bernhard racing in the top five. Ramos was able to pass Fetzer to move into second place and began his chase of the race leader Dieter. As Dieter hit lap traffic, Ramos and Bernhard battled for the runner up spot. Bernhard moved into second place and began his chase of Dieter, who had a full straightaway lead over the rest of the field.
